Most of the Fall of 1982 I was writing as much as I could for what I hoped would be my 2nd solo record to follow-up “Marooned”.  This demo recording of Don’t Go Cryin’ was aimed at that project.  Once again recorded in my basement studio with Jon R. on electric guitars, Frank Westbrook on keyboards, Don Shipps on bass, and I believe Lloyd Hicks on drums.  With “Marooned” being released earlier in the year, my record company gave me a very special Christmas present at the end of the year, they dropped me.

Lyrics

Tonight he called and told you he was through
It took you by surprise; he really dropped a bomb on you
And I understand how you may feel
You got a broken heart; it takes a little time to heal

Don’t go cryin’ for a love you lost
Cause all you’re left with is this loneliness
Don’t go cryin’, burn the bridge you cross
Cause tomorrow I’ll be call, when you’re feelin’ down
Yeah tomorrow be callin’. Don’t go cryin’ now

He’s your first love; there’ll be more to come
Loves an endless river that you’re floatin’ on
And in time the sun will shine on you
Just to make it start this is what you ought to do

Don’t go cryin’ for a love you lost
Cause all you’re left with is this loneliness
Don’t go cryin’, burn the bridge you cross
Cause tomorrow I’ll be call, when you’re feelin’ down
Yeah tomorrow be callin’. Don’t go cryin’ now

Solo

Don’t go cryin’ for a love you lost
I know sadness comes with loneliness
Don’t go cryin’, burn the bridge you cross
Cause tomorrow I’ll be call, when you’re feelin’ down
Yeah tomorrow be callin’. Don’t go cryin’ now
